Soy Wax: Why We Use It

Soy Wax

We make all of our candles with 100% all-natural soy wax, but why?

Well, according to CandleScience, there are many advantages to using soy wax for candle-making:

  1. It burns for an extended amount of time.
  2. It does not create black soot or leave soot residue.
  3. It is a natural product.
  4. It works well for all types of candle products (e.g. container candles, tealights, wax melts and tarts).

Some other benefits of soy wax are that it produces a strong scent throw and adheres to containers well.

However, soy wax is often affected by "frosting", which is when white, crystal-like formations appear in various places on the wax. It is important to note that frosting does not affect scent throw or candle performance. In other words, white spots on a soy candle do not result in the candle burning incorrectly.

Here at the Nut House, we use Golden Brands 444 Soy Wax to make our candles, but there are also other types of soy wax and soy wax blends on the market.

Overall, there are many benefits to using soy wax in your candle-making endeavors. However, if you want to test the field and try something different, there are other types of wax out there. We have listed out and described those alternatives here.
